Women's University Boat Race 2008

23 March 2008

The favourites, Oxford University, won the Women's Boat race at Henley but it was a much closer contest than many had been predicting. Oxford won in 6 minutes 38 seconds with Cambridge only fractionally behind them half a length back.

sportuk.tv's cameras were there to capture all the action from the River Thames. You can enjoy the whole race right now by clicking on the player below, on the right you can watch the other races of the day plus interviews from both crews. (continued below)

You need to upgrade your Flash Player This is replaced by the Flash content.

In the reserve race Oxford also triumphed with Osiris coming home ahead of Blondie who suffered a boat stopping crab early on and did brilliantly to recover as well as they did.

Cambridge stopped the sequence by taking the Women's Lightweights but Oxford's Men won their Lightweight battle.

We hope you enjoy watching a superb day of rowing held in dreadful conditions as the crews battled against rough water and a biting wind.
